Williams has become the first Formula 1 team to unveil the design of its 2017 F1 car. The FW40 celebrates the 40th anniversary of the team on the sport. For 2017 Formula 1 cars will once again suffer several modifications as a result of new rules adopted for the new season.
Main design changes on the FW40
Although
Williams is presenting the
FW40 as the new design for the 2017 season, the final car will only be shown on the 25th of February. This is just two days before the start of the pre-season testing in Barcelona.
The first images revealed to the press show changes that had already been previewed in Ferrari's Pirelli test car. The most significant modification is the reshaped rear wing. In a return to the 2014 season the new
FW40 has adopted a thumb-tip nose design at front.

For 2017
Williams will have rookie Canadian driver Lance Stroll and Felipe Massa behind the wheels of the
FW40. The Brazilian driver even came back with his decision of retiring from F1 after Valtteri Bottas left the team to sign for Mercedes.

With 40 years of Formula 1,
Williams is one of the oldest and most respected teams on the paddock. Since 1968, at the Argentinian Grand Prix, the team has entered 642 races and has won 114. The British team claimed the Driver's World Championship in seven occasions and grabbed the Constructor's title nine times.
In 2016
Williams finished the Constructor's standings in fifth position with a total of 138 points. The team's best result in a race came from Valtteri Bottas at the Canadian Grand Prix where he went to podium for finishing in third place.
In the Driver's standings Valtteri Bottas was the best of the two
Williams drivers in 2016, finishing the world championship in eighth position. Felipe Massa was 11th.
