The Aston Martin Rapide is a four-door, high-performance sport saloon produced since 2010 by British manufacturer Aston Martin. The model was first presented as a concept car at the North American International auto Show in 2006. Based on the Aston Martin DB9, the Rapide receives its name from the Lagonda Rapide, a saloon car produced by Lagonda, which is now part of Aston Martin.

Engine and Transmission

The Rapide is powered by a 6.0-litre V12 engine which has a power output of 477PS and produces torque of 601Nm. Thanks to the V12 unit the Rapide is able to reach the 100km/h mark in just 5.3 seconds, reaching a top speed of 303 km/h. A specifically tuned six-speed Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission features as standard, allowing the driver to change gears automatically or manually via the steering column-mounted magnesium paddles. Built at a dedicated plant at the Magna Steyr facility in Graz, Austria, the Rapide has acurrent annual production of 2000 units.
