Aston Martin is taking the roof off of its V12 Vantage to create the Roadster version. Aston Martin says that the car will be a limited edition and only available in certain environments.
Power comes from Aston Martin's 6.0 liter V12 with 517ps and 570Nm of torque. It accelerates to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds with a 306km/h (190mph) top speed. The rest of the chassis is the same as the V8 Vantage Roadster. The rear suspension has been retuned with modified springs and dampers. It is projected to weigh 1,760kg.
Like the V12 Vantage, there is a "Sport" button that switches to a mode with better throttle response, more torque lower in the rev range and opening a baffle in the exhaust.
“The V12 Vantage models are, first and foremost, driver’s cars – inviting and fully rewarding the driver’s full involvement. The addition to our range of this exceptional new Roadster allows the driver and passenger to experience full ‘sensory overload’ thanks to its outstanding performance. I believe no other car in this class offers the combination of the V12 Vantage Roadster’s prestige, six-speed manual gearbox and the unique enjoyment that driving a high performance convertible can deliver,” said Aston Martin CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez.
Styling is changed slightly over the V8 version. It gets a new boot lid spoiler and new front air intake. It also gets carbon fiber side sills, carbon fiber front splitter, carbon fiber rear diffuser, carbon fiber mirror caps, carbon fiber tail light surround and forged wheels. There is an oil cooler mounted in the rear diffuser.
One minor change to the interior includes glass switches on the center console. Optional carbon fiber trim is also available. Other optional features will be two upgraded radios - a 700w from Aston Martin and a 1000W from Bang & Olufsen - front parking sensors, reverse camera, heated seats and an ISOFIX passenger seat.
It will be available in Europe, including Russia, the MIddle East, South America, Asia and Australasia.
