The A7 Sportback from Audi was presented at a ceremony at Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich. With 4.97 meters length, 1.91 meters (6.27 ft) width and 1.42 meters highth the five-door coupe comes with a lightweight body due to the numerous aluminium components it has been fitted with.
At the front the Sportback shows a large single-frame grille with six corners like that of Audi’s A8 flagship. Its width has been emphasized by the horizontal posture and also the design of the wide and low air inlets.
Form the side the Audi A7 Sportback has a characteristic line with the flat dome roof arch and with the C-pillar stretching to the rear and flowing into the shoulder of the body. Paying a small homage to the Audi 100 Coupé S from 1969 the five-door coupe is fitted with a third side window integrated into the pillar.
The new Audi model is available at launch with a choice between four V6 engines: two gasoline and two TDI units, with power outputs between 150 kW (204 hp) to 220 kW (300 hp). The A7 Sportback is offered with different transmissions depending on the engines: the continuous multitronic sends the power to the front wheels, while the sporty seven-speed S tronic works together with quattro permanent all-wheel drive.
The interior of the A7 Sportback also offers some specials, such as the front seats, covered in Audi leathers, have optional climate-control and massage functions.
At the back the rear hatch has a large luggage compartment, with capacity for 535 liters which can grow up to a volume of 1,390 liters with the rear seat backrests folded down.
