unveiled in 2015 an even more powerful version of the top of the range S8. The new S8 plus has an output of 605hp and can reach a top speed of 305km/h, offering an improved driving performance.

One of the main features of S8 plus is the fact that it is produced almost entirely of aluminum, based on the Audi Space frame architecture (ASF). The S8 plus platform weighs just 231kg, the lower among its main rivals.

Audi engineers have made significant improvements in performance in the 4.0 TFSI engine. Compared to the S8, the V8 biturbo of the S8 plus has more 85hp. With a maximum torque of 700Nm, which can increase to 750Nm in overboost mode, the plus version can reach 100 km/in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h, which can optionally rise to 305km/h.

The major changes in the engine that allowed this increase in power and performance were a special engine control with speed and charge pressure boosting, modified exhaust valves, and the optimization of the internal geometry of the turbocharger which improved efficiency.

Power is distributed by an automatic eight-speed tiptronic gearbox and the S8 plus is equipped with the all-wheel drive quattro system and sport differential.

Uma das principais características do S8 plus é o facto de ser produzido quase na totalidade em alumínio, baseado na arquitetura Audi Space Frame (ASF). A plataforma do S8 plus pesa apenas 231kg, o valor mais baixo entre os seus principais rivais.

Os engenheiros da Audi fizeram significativas melhorias em termos de desempenho no motor 4.0 TFSI. Comparativamente ao S8, o motor V8 biturbo do S8 plus tem mais 85cv. Com um binário máximo de 700Nm, que pode aumentar para os 750Nm em modo overboost, a versão plus consegue atingir os 100km/ em 3.8 segundos e uma velocidade máxima de 250km/h, que opcionalmente pode subir até aos 305km/h.

As principais alterações no motor que permitiram este aumento de potência e performance foram possíveis graças a um sistema especial de controlo do motor com um aumento da pressão da velocidade e carga, às válvulas de exaustão modificadas e ainda à otimização da geometria interna do turbo que melhora a eficiência.

A potência é distribuída pela caixa automática de oito velocidades tiptronic e o S8 plus está equipado com o sistema de tração integral quattro e um diferencial desportivo.
