Bentley’s model Continental was firstly launched as the Bentley Corniche, as it was nothing more than a Rolls-Royce Corniche with the Bentley badge (Rolls Royce had bought Bentley back in 1931). This car was launched in 1971 and not until 1984 did it get the name Continental, in order to tell it apart from the Rolls-Royce model.

The original Bentley Continental spawned 4 generations between the 1970’s and the 1990’s, which don’t include the most recent Continental GT and other latest Bentley models with the word ‘Continental’ on their names. Bentley ceased operations on this car in 1996.
This model also started out with coupe and convertible body versions, although the coupes were withdrawn from the line-up in the early 1980’s.
