History

The Benz 200 hp was between 1909 and 1911 the world's fastest car. The first record was set on 8 November 1909. It became the first internal combustion-engined car to reach the 200 km/h speed mark. Two years later, on April 23rd, Bob Burman made history again in Daytona Beach. When the car reached 228.1 km/h, the “Blitzen-Benz” legend was born. The "Lightning Benz" became the world's fastest car setting the land speed record that remained unbroken until 1919.
