The 640i is powered by a straight-six petrol engine with a power output of 320hp, torque of 450 Nm at 4,500rpm. Thanks to it the 640i is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and to reach a top speed of 250km/h. The combined fuel consumption is provisionally set at 7.7 l/100km, which represents CO2 emissions of 179 g/km.
In order to offer extra cabin space to its passengers, the 6 Series Coupé features a 75mm longer wheelbase. It is also 39mm wider but five mm lower to give it a sportier look. The lines of this new interpretation of the traditional BMW Coupe have been inspired by the movement of waves. It features flowing lines and harmonious curves that give the car an athletic stance combined with an elegant appearance.
At the front the large and slightly forward-slanting BMW kidney grille is the dominant element. The grille also emphasizes the sportive look of the car and its’ “shark nose” character. All the contour lines of the bonnet converge towards the kidney grille creating a V-shape which is continued by the contours of the headlights, kidney and wide air intake.
