BMW and Pininfarina developed the Gran Lusso Coupe for the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2013, which takes a 6 Series and adds Italian flair. The car's concept harkens back to Pininfarina Ferraris of the 60s that supplied luxury and the ability to eat up long distances of European roads at a stretch.
Looking at the Gran Lusso Coupe, the 6 Series heritage is obvious. Pininfarina took the design and subtly changed it. The nose is blunter, and the sides have far more sculpting, especially at the rear. For the trunk, Pininfarina reworked the shape to fit the rest of the design better. As opposed to being flatter as on the standard 6 Series, the Gran Lusso Coupe lets the line of the trunk follow the roof and accentuate the coupe line.
From head on, Pininfarina drew a very clear line at the front that gives the car a very aggressive look. It appears that the grill and headlights are supposed to be much larger but were cut off to make them look sharper and angrier. The top of the hood is pushed out in front of the car to let the grill tilt downward like the original 6 Series.
From the side, most of the work has been done at the rear of the car with widened wheel arches. To do so, the top of the body is wider than the bottom. It gives the coupe a tailored appearance like a fine men's suit.
The interior is covered in beige, high-quality leather and kauri wood sourced from a single log. It uses black chrome trim for most other services. The roof liner is made from Italian wool in a grey plaid pattern, which is also used in the seats' piping.

So, in 1913,... more
