BMW Packs OLED Screen into Steering Wheel

BMW is offering an M Performance Steering Wheel for 3 Series models in Europe. The steering wheel has a small OLED display on the center-top of the steering that can be switched between fuel economy and performance data including lateral G's and shift lights.

I can't decide if this is a good design decision or not, though. While, it seems like from an aesthetics and usability perspective displaying this data on the optional HUD would be better because it would make the interior less cluttered, if you did not order the HUD, the steering wheel might be a good option.
