The Bugatti company that we know nowadays is a different company than the original one, which was founded in 1909 by Ettore Bugatti. This company became famous for its beautiful designs and success in motorsports, but ceased to exist after its founder's death in 1947.

The make was ultimately revived in 2000 by the Volkswagen AG. Under the ownership of the German group, Bugatti is now known as a brand of very limited production sports cars. Its production models, namely the Veyron, range amongst the fastest street-legal cars worldwide.
