Based on the GM Sigma platform, the Cadillac SRX is a mid-size crossover SUV produced by the Cadillac division of American automaker General Motors since 2003.

The first generation of the SRX was available until the 2009 model year and was available with the 255 hp (190 kW) High-Feature V6 and 4.6 L 320 hp (239 kW) Northstar V8 engines.

Based on the Provoq concept vehicle, for the 2010 model year, Cadillac introduced a new generation SRX, based on the all-wheel drive GM Theta Premium platform. It was launched with the choice of a 3.0 liter V6or a 2.8 liter turbocharged V6.

Cadillac was founded in 1902 by Henry Martyn Leland from the remains of Henry Ford’s car company. After financial disputes with its bankers, Ford left taking its name, and Leland stepped in, persuading the bankers to carry on with the carmaker. A new name was needed, and inspired in the French explorer that discovered Detroit in the beginning of the 17th century, Leland chose the explorer’s name to baptize the company: Cadillac.
