When Caroll Sherlby ruled the tracks, Bill Thomas approached General Motors to develop a car to compete with the Cobra. Largely thought by Don Edmunds, the Cheetah Chevrolet was built in 1963. Although Cheetah Chevrolet had some design and technical problems, the car is highly sought-after. A Super Cheetah was planned, but was never finished. When GM cut the parts supply, the project was terminated due to lack of financial support.
