History and Development

Chevrolet released the 5th generation Corvette, also known as the C5, in 1995. The brand claimed they had given a big makeover to the Corvette in order to leave the squared-looking trend behind. The C5 Corvettes were produced until 2004.

Body and Design

The Corvette C5 was launched as a 2-door hatchback coupe; then a 2-door convertible body style joined the line-up in 1998. In 1999 and 2000, a 2-door hardtop coupe was also produced.   The C5 embodied the beginning of a new Corvette styling trend, which was given rounder and more elegant lines, somewhat recalling the C3’s appearance.
