The Chevrolet Equinox is a mid-size crossover SUV introduced in 2004. The Equinox is the first crossover SUV manufactured by Chevrolet and is not designed for serious off-roading. It features front-wheel drive as standard, with optional all-wheel drive. In 2006 the Equinox was updated for the first time, and GM badges were added on the front doors.

From 2008 the Equinox Sport is available with a 3.6 L V6 engine. In the same year, Chevrolet added a Sport model to the Equinox range that features the new 3.6 DOHC V6.

The second generation Equinox debuted at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit and went on sale in 2009. It comes with a pair of new gasoline direct injection engines. The new 2.4-liter straight-4 engine produces 182 hp (136 kW) and the 3.0-liter V6 engine produces 264 hp (197 kW). Both powertrains come with six-speed automatics and optional all-wheel-drive systems.
