The first generation of the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid electric vehicle is available for customers in the US since late 2010.
The 2010 Volt was rated the most fuel-efficient car with an internal combustion engine sold in the United States by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). According to the tests conducted by EPA, the average all-electric range of the vehicle is 35 miles (56 km), with an energy consumption of 36 kWh per 100 miles (810 kJ/km). The total range using initially the only-electric drive and then the electricity generated by the internal engine, is 379 miles (610 km). The vehicle's battery can be charged at a domestic electrical outlet.
