The C3 second generation, introduced in 2009, is available in four trim levels. It shares the same design language as other Citroen models and as the older C3, but it is longer and wider than the previous series.

For 2013 the C3 gets new PureTech three-cylinder petrol engines with either the 1.0-liter VTi 68 that emits 99g/km of CO2 and uses 54.7mpg US (65.7mpg UK or 4.3l/100km). There is also the 1.2-liter VTi 82 that emits 104g/km of CO2 and uses 52mpg US (62.8mpg UK or 4.5l/100km). The other engine options include the VTi 120 petrol engine and four diesels – HDi 70, e-HDi 70, HDi 90 and e-HDi 115. The e-HDi 70 is the cleanest among them and emits 87g/km of CO2. The new three-cylinder PureTech engines use 25% less fuel and produce 15% more power than the four-cylinder engines that they replace.
The car has an updated front end with a new grill and new a light design with LED running lights. It also has new taillights. There is also a new body color called Ink Blue. The updates have improved the drag coefficient to 0.30.
Inside, there are new upholstery options and an optional rearview camera. There is more chrome trim and a soft-touch dashboard with matte black trim, brown trim or optional Moondust grey trim. Citroën added more storage area to the center console, glove box and center armrest. Other interior options include Bluetooth, navigation and parking sensors.
