The Jeep Compass (MK49) is a compact crossover SUV launched in 2007. It is a 4-door vehicle with front engine, front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive layout. The Jeep Compass was preceded by a 2002 concept vehicle, featuring a two door body, all-wheel drive and a 3.7-liter V6 engine.
The Jeep Compass and Patriot are the entry-level models in the Jeep range just below the Wrangler. The Compass is regarded as targeting first-time Jeep buyers as it is made mainly for paved roads, in contrast to the more traditional Jeep vehicles which are reknown for their off-road capacities.
For 2011 the Jeep Compass was reviewed and now shows a look more similar to that of the Grand Cherokee.
