Based on the Dacia Logan, the Sandero is a five door hatchback car produced jointly by the French manufacturer Renault and its subsidiary Dacia of Romania.

The Sandero was developed in France by Technocentre and is slightly shorter than the sedan from which it derives.

In December 2007 the Sandero debuted in Brazil as a Renault model, becoming the first model from Renault to debut outside Europe.

Dacia's history begins in 1966 when it was founded under the name Uzina de Autoturisme Pitești (UAP), but it was only in 1968 that the main Dacia factory was built. For their first car the company decided to acquire the tooling and basic design rights for the Renault 12, however they ended up producing the Renault 8 under license, which became the Dacia 1100.
