The E43 AMG 4Matic is powered by a retuned version of Mercedes-Benz’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, the same featured on the recently revealed SLC 43 AMGMercedes-Benz SLC 43 AMG Germany, 2016 > present, C43 AMG Coupe 4Matic and C43 AMG Convertible 4Matic. It has been added turbocharger boost pressure, revised software mapping and a two-stage exhaust. However the E43 AMG 4Matic is more powerful thanks to the larger turbochargers.

This new engine feature enabled Mercedes AMG to increase the E43 AMG 4Matic's output by 34hp to a total of 401hp, with torque of 520Nm. Power is sent to the wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.
