The Paykan was built in Iran from 1967 to 2005 by Iran Khodro, formely named Iran National. Mahmoud Khayami, co-founder of the Company, was the introducer of the Paykan’s design into Iran. This car became extremely popular in its versions Deluxe and standard. The company was forced out of business in 2005 mainly based on the argument that it was environmentally ineffective due to its high fuel consumption.
