John Fitch & Co., Inc was founded by John Cooper Fitch a famous racing pilot born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the first American to successfully pilot racing cars in Europe after WWII. He was also a prolific inventor of automotive devices. The Company was headquartered in Lime Rock, Lakeville, Connecticut, and produced special cars in a small scale. The company designed a total of 5 cars. In the 1950’s the Fitch Model B (a modified version of the Fiat 1100) and the Fitch-Whitmore Jaguar (a modified version of Jag special was an XK-120)were quite successful racing cars. As of 1960’s, and based on the Corvair, the Fitch Sprint (a Grand Touring) and the Fitch Phoenix, (a two-seater sports car). The last two models, The Fitch Firebird , and the Fitch Toronado Phantom did not receive much attention.
