Every time Ford produce a vaguely interesting looking Coupe one question springs to mind. Is this the new Capri? In the past the answer has always unequivocally been a ‘no’, and upon looking a little more deeply into this concept the answer is still ‘no’.

The old Capri was a sleek rear wheel drive coupe that aged well and came endowed with increasingly potent V6 engines. Sadly, the Evos concept is a front wheel drive hybrid and this does little to stir the trouser department, despite the sleek styling

The Evos continues a trend started by the Mercedes CLS by being a 4 door coupe, although the rear door is well hidden. To make life even easier Ford claim that the Evos can “use patterns or preferences set by the driver to make life simpler,” Ford’s Paul Mascerenas goes on to say: “the car gets to know you and can act as a personal assistant to handle some of the usual routines of a daily commute.” Clever stuff indeed.

The Evos will be unveiled at the Frankfurt motorshow, and it is obvious that Ford want to continue the current trend by making the Evos fit in with its owner’s lifestyle. One can’t help but feel that it would be nice if it had a V6 and rear wheel drive, a concept that has fitted well with plenty of peoples lifestyles in the past.
