2013 Updates

For 2013 Ford is giving the F-15 some mild updates with slightly changed styling, HID headlights and MyFord Touch.

From the outside, the 2013 F-150 has a new grill with chrome, horizontal bars and black vertical slats. The headlight cluster is also completely new, and HID headlights are available for the first time not only on the F-150 but in the pickup truck segment. Depending on trim package, the F-150 will come with either 18in- or 20in wheels. Available features also include power-telescoping and power-folding side view mirrors that extend when towing to improve visibility. Ford also added three new colors: Blue Jeans Metallic, Kodiak Brown Metallic and Ruby Red Clearcoat Metallic.

Inside, Ford is also giving the F-150 some upgrades including Synch and MyFord Touch on higher trim levels. It also gets a new 4.2in LCD in the instrument cluster that displays auxillary gauges, trip computer and fuel economy. Higher trim levels will get an 8in screen on the center stack with USB connectivity, SD card reader and even video input jacks. The top-of-the-line Platinum model also gets new Black or Pecan leather and new wood grain trim.

The 2013 F-150 is available with four engines: a 3.7l V6 with 302hp and 6,100lbs towing capacity, a 5.0l V8 with 360hp and 10,000lbs towing capacity, a 6.2l V8 with 411hp and 11,300lbs towing capacity, finally there is the 3.5l turbocharged Ecoboost V6 with 365hp and 11,300lbs towing. While power is lower on the Ecoboost V6 compared to the 6.2l V8, the Ecoboost uses 16mpg city and 22mpg in the city compared to 13mpg city and 18mpg highway from the big V8.

The 2013 truck should be available later this summer, and Ford has not announced any pricing for the new model. It will have a lot of pressure though, given that Ram Trucks will be introducing a completely new Ram at the same time.
