History, development and general characteristics

Ford Advanced Vehicles was dissolved and J.W. Automotive Engineering took over the Slough facility and started manufacturing strictly road going versions of the GT40. The goal was to create a more road-worthy GT40.

The Mk III was a road-car only, of which 7 were built. It had many external changes compared with the previous generation.

Engine and Transmission

The Mk3 GT40 received a detuned (when compared to the previous generation model) 4.7-liter V8 engine that produced up to 335 hp. This car would achieve its top speed at 160 mi/h (258 km/h) and take 5.2 seconds to perform 0–60 mi/h. The mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout of the GT40 is retained from the previous generations.
This 3rd generation GT40 works with a ZF 5-speed manual transmission.
