Ford of Europe presented at the 2010 Moscow Motor Show a facelifted Mondeo. The new lineup is available in three different body styles: 5-door, 4-door and wagon. With the facelift the Mondeo received a restyled exterior, an enhanced interior and new Ford EcoBoost petrol and TDCi diesel powertrains.
In terms of exterior design the kinetic design signatures in each of the three body styles were emphasized and new technologies such as LED lighting were incorporated. At the front end, the restyled Mondeo received larger lower trapezoidal and slimmer upper grilles. It also received a new bonnet profile and integral new LED day running lights. A full chrome window surround for the higher series models emphasizes the sleek lines of the new Mondeo, while the larger, re-designed, LED tail lamps give additional kinetic movement to the rear.
The 240 PS derivative of the efficient new 2.0-litre Ford EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine made its debut with the 2011 Mondeo. It joins the existing 203 PS version of this engine, introduced with the Mondeo, new S-MAX and new Galaxy earlier in 2010. Also introduced was a revised version of the 2.2-litre Ford Duratorq TDCi diesel engine with a power output of 200 PS, becoming the most powerful Ford Duratorq diesel engine.
In order to enhance efficiency and economy the Mondeo features new Ford ECOnetic Technologies such as the Smart Regenerative Charging, the Ford Eco Mode driver information system and an Active Grille Shutter system, the first one ever to be used on a Ford.
The Mondeo takes a flagship model position in the company's European portfolio.
