History, Development and General Characteristics

A fresh new Mustang, generation III, came out in 1979, surviving the oil crisis of the 1970’s and regarding United States’ ever stricter safety and emissions regulations, which were forcing all car companies to adjust almost all of their model ranges.

Over the years, a large number of improvements were made to the Mustang regarding interior and exterior styling, giving it a superior comfort and a modernized look. Power was amplified as well throughout the years of production of the Mustang III.

Ford also re-added the high-performance Mustang GT variant to the lineup in 1982. To celebrate the Mustang’s 20th anniversary, Ford launched a limited edition of the model that was labeled GT350 and reproduced in nearly 5000 copies.
