The S-Max concept was unveiled and presented at 2013 the Frankfurt Motor Show to introduce the second generation of the model. Besides featuring a new design it also includes new infotainment technology like SYNC, MyFord Touch, car-to-car communication and parking assist; it even has a heart rate monitor and glucose level monitor. Power for the concept comes from a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine.

The look of the car adapts the new Ford look with a wide mouth and sleek roof to a larger MPV. The grill is mounted high on the car with the headlights swept backward. The windshield is sharply raked and flows into the glass roof. The rear has long, narrow taillights that echo the headlights and integrated exhausts that appear to be floating in the rear.

The interior is adaptable and can seat from four to seven people. The front seats hug the driver and front passenger in surprisingly sporty styling. The instruments are displayed on an LED screen, and the infotainment system is located on a center console that cascades down the center stack in one appears to be a single piece.

The infotainment system allows for wireless Internet access for all of the passengers, and there is a tablet docking station for the second row. It also includes odd features like a heart rate monitor that can trigger the safety systems in case of emergency and a glucose monitor that can tell if passengers have low blood sugar.
