Ginetta was created in 1958 by the Walklett brothers, who joined their different skills to build cars. Bob was in charge for sales, Trevers was the responsible for the design, Ivor for engineering, and Douglas handled management. Despite their different abilities, the Walklett brothers loved motor racing. This is why Ginetta race cars represent a bif part of the company. Even road cars have a sport feel to them.
In 1958 Ginetta was establish in Suffolk, England, but it moved around until it’s currently location in West Yorkshire, Leeds, England. In 1962 the company moved to Whitman, Essex, from 1972 to 1974 it operated from Sudbury, but retuned to Suffolk in 1989.
One of the most emblematic models of Ginetta is probably the G4, built to be versatile car between the road (fuel efficiency), and the race (power and speed).

However, the company didn’t do well and was rescued by Sheffield enthusiasts and placed under the management of Martin Phaff. The G20 and G33 were produced during this time.
Later, Lawrence Tomlinson, Chairman of the LNT group, took an interest in Ginetta. The LNT Automotive bough Ginetta in 2005.
In 2008 Ginetta celebrated its 50th birthday and launched a new model G50 the mark the occasion. Ginetta nowadays aims to sell 300 cars a year, without ever forgetting its sportive side.
