Hyundai has revealed its Zombie Survival Machine at San Diego Comic-Con to promote the comic book The Walking Dead. The car was designed by series creator Robert Kirkman and actually built by Design Craft Fabrication. The car is on display at the booth for Future Publishing.
The car has been modified to include a spiked front plow, window reinforcements, roof escape hatch, fog lights, weapons in the trunk and all-terrain tires.
The car was built both to promote the comic's 100th issue and the television show based on the comic. As part of the release, Hyundai has a contest running to win an Elantra GT wrapped with the cover of the 100th issue.
“Our custom Elantra Coupe Zombie Survival Machine is the ultimate car for The Walking Dead fans and anyone who wants to survive a zombie invasion. We are excited for fans to come and experience the Elantra Coupe and GT in a unique, post-apocalyptic way," said Steve Shannon, Hyundai Vice President of Marketing.
The car is be on display at Comic-Con for attendees to sit in. Hyundai printed a limited number of owner's manuals for the Zombie Survival Machine that can be taken from the car, as well.
