The third generation of the Santa Fe was unveiled at the 2012 New York Auto Show. The new Santa Fe received a brand new grille design, new optional 18inch alloy wheels and added passenger and cargo room. The new generation features Hyundai's new "Storm Edge" design which will be extended to all models in the future.

The 2013 Santa Fe will be available in the US with two trims, Limited and GLS, and in Europe with a 2.4l petrol and a 2.2l diesel engines. The diesel variant will also be offered as a 7 seater in addition to the standard 5 seater version. Manual transmission will be standard but an optional 6-speed automatic transmission will also be available.
