Jaguar revealed the Project 7 as part of the brand's lineup for the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The design study is a one-off design study of the F-Type that adds retro-inspired touches from the D-Type to the still-modern F-Type. The design is from Jaguar lead designer Ian Callum, and the name comes from Jaguar’s seven wins in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The Project 7 transforms the F-Type into a single-seater inspired by 50s racers when drivers would show up to a race, strip out what was unneeded, race, and then put it all back in and drive home. The body is mostly aluminum, except for the fairing, front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser, which are made from carbon fiber. The design also features a steeper windshield angle. Inside, the interior is replaced is replaced by a single racing seat and helmet holder.
The engine is the same 5.0-liter supercharged V8 from the F-Type V8 S with 543hp and 502lb-ft of torque and an eight-speed automatic transmission. It gets the Project 7 to 60mph in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 186mph.
