Review
For the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2012, Jaguar prepared a research vehicle that it calls the XJ_e plug-in hybrid.
The XJ_e is a parallel hybrid with the company's 2.0 liter, turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine and a 69kW electric motor for a total system output of 334ps. It uses the eight-speed automatic already available on the XJ. It accelerates to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds and a 250km/h limited top speed. Even with this quite robust performance, the XJ_e produces 75g/km of CO2 and 3.2l/100km. It runs completely electrically for 40km (25 miles). Total range for the car is 1092km (679 miles).
The car was partially funded by the UK Government’s Technology Strategy Board.
