Designed at Kia's design center in California the Kia Soul is a compact hatchback car manufactured by Kia Motors since 2008. Unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, the Soul is produced in South Korea and reached the market as model year 2010.

The design of the Kia Soul is based on the Kia Mesa concept, presented at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. The Soul design already incorporates the new corporate grille from Kia, known as the Tiger Nose, as designed by Kia's design chief, Peter Schreyer.
