General Characteristics

Lamborghini has presented its new top model in the Gallardo line-up: the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera. The new Superleggera will be launched to carry on the success of its predecessor, launched in 2007.

With a dry weight of 1340 kilograms, the Gallardo Superleggera becomes the lightest road-going model in Lamborghini’s range. The 70 kilograms of lost weight in the super sportscar from Sant’Agata Bolognese, is justified by the use of exterior and interior components made from carbon-fiber. Thanks to a better weight-to-power ratio and reduced total mass the car’s performance was enhanced, with CO2 emissions also lowering.

The Gallardo Superleggera is powered by a 5.2-litre V10 engine with a maximum output of 419 kW, at 8000 rpm, with the torque curve peaking at 540 Nm (398,3 ft lbs) at 6,500 rpm. With a top speed of 325 km/h the Superleggera accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, with the 200 km/h barrier being crossed in 10.2 seconds.

Partly due to the “Iniezione Diretta Stratificata” gasoline direct injection, which injects fuel into the combustion chambers at pressures of up to 100 bar, the efficiency in the Gallardo LP 570-4 was increased. In the combined cycle the Superleggera consumes 13.5 liters/100km, less 3.5 than its predecessor.

Based on the Gallardo LP 560-4, the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera suffered exterior modifications in order to increase its aerodynamics. The designers from the Lamborghini’s Centro Stile remodeled the front bumper – three-dimensional, deeply recessed elements form trapezoidal frames for the large air intakes. The new Gallardo has a V-shaped nose and is equipped with LED daytime running lights. The front end has a razor-sharp look, thanks to the black elements, a feature that evokes the Lamborghini’s top model.
