The Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 is the replacement model of the Gallardo and while it shares the 5.2-liter V10 from the Gallardo, power has seen a significant boost over its predecessor.
Huracan means hurricane in Spanish and it is also the name of a fighting bull of the Spanish Conte de la Patilla breed that was famous in the late 19th century. The design is certainly similar to the Gallardo, but all of the lines seem to have been simplified. If such a thing is possible, this is the understated Lamborghini.
The chassis is brand new and is made from a combination of carbon fiber and aluminum with a dry weight of 1,422kg (3,135lb).
The 5.2-liter V10 has been upgraded to produce 601hp (610ps) at 8,250rpm and 413lb-ft (560Nm), which is enough to propel the car to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 325km/h.
The increase in power is mainly due to the installation of direct injection into the engine. Thanks to standard start/stop, it uses 12.5l/100km (19mpg) and emits 290g/km of CO2.
The upgraded engine is fitted with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission mated to an electronically controlled all-wheel drive system. The traction control can be put in Strada (Street), Sport and Corsa (Track) modes that modify shift points, engine mapping, the tuning of the all-wheel drive system, and the stability control settings. Carbon-ceramic brakes are now a standard feature, and variable-ratio power steering and magnetic dampers are optional.
In silhouette, there is an unbroken line that runs from nose to tail. In front, there are three separate air intakes and low-mounted full LED headlights. The rear also features LED lighting.
The interior features a big 12.3in digital instrument panel that combines tachometer, navigation and infotainment in a single, driver-configurable screen. The upholstery is a combination of Nappa leather and Alcantara.
