In 2010, Land Rover presented with the new Discovery 4 Armoured another factory-supported armoured vehicle. The new model replacs the old Discovery 3 model and offers the same all-terrain capability and state-of-the-art protection. The Discovery 4 Armoured seen some changes in terms of performance and style.

The Armored version of the Discovery 4 is powered by a more powerful 5.0-litre LR-V8 petrol engine. To enhance performance, the Discovery 4 Armoured is equipped with a 375PS power output, it replaces the 2.7-litre V6 turbo-diesel used in the previous model. Featuring a six-speed automatic transmission it is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds.

Its passive safety has been enhanced with an airbag restraint system for driver and front passenger. The ballistic protection is provided by the steel armour and glazing that comply with standards BS EN1522 level FB6 and BS EN 1063 level BR6 respectively. Still the Discovery 4 Armoured is almost indistinguishable from the standard model. It was developed in partnership with the vehicle armouring specialists Centigon and provides blast protection against 15kg TNT (or equivalent) detonated in close proximity to the vehicle and under floor protection against two DM51 hand grenades.
