In 1948, Rover started producing the first series of its 4x4 vehicle Land Rover, after having revealed it at the Amsterdam Motor Show that year. It is believed that Maurice Wilks grabbed his inspiration for this 4x4 from the American Jeep vehicles that were used in the Second World War. That would justify why the first Land Rover prototype was actually built on a chassis from Jeep.
Land Rover’s performance is aimed by the active terrain response of All-Terrain Traction Control. This 4x4 was manufactured for 3 series (generations) that lasted for 37 years, from 1948 until 1985.
