The 2012 Range Rover Sport was presented in July 2011 to be sold from October of the same year. Improvements were made regarding the drivetrain, as the 3.0-litre SDV6 diesel engine receives an upgrade from 245 hp to 256 hp, CO2 emissions are reduced from 243g/km to 230g/km and fuel economy is 30.7mpg instead of 32.1mpg. Improvements are mainly thanks to the ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic gearbox which can be operated via a 'Drive Select' rotary gear shifter and steering wheel-mounted paddles.
For 2012, a single piece tailgate has been added as well as a touchscreen with Dual View technology allowing the passenger to watch TV while the driver uses the navigation system. The passenger is also able to listen to independent audio through the use of wireless WhiteFire headphones which can be added to the rear seats. The standard audio system comes with extra 2 speakers, and the optional premium system features 17 speakers outputting 825W. Furthermore, a ‘Say What You See’ system has been included to aid drivers in the learning process of the various voice commands that can be used.
The Luxury Pack on the V6 model includes contrast stitching on selected upholstery, 20-inch alloy wheels, Premium ICE, an extended leather pack, a HSE Luxury badge, a heated steering wheel and adaptive cruise control.
