Body and Design

Lotus main goal was to build a lightweight car with a good performance. The car weights 755 kg, it has 3726 mm of overall length, and it is 1701 mm wide and 1202 mm tall. Although it is heavier than originally planned, the Lotus Elise was one of the lightest sport cars at the time.

The focus on the car was the performance and the accessories were kept to a minimum. It came without airbags, ABS, electric windows, radio, adjustable steering, or spare wheel. However, Lotus Elise features many modern electronics that were new at the time of its launching. The result was a high-tech car with a relative affordable price for its segment.
