Maserati Tipo 61 Birdcage
We attended the Techno Classica Show last year in Essen, Germany. Here is one of the many gems and for me one of the highlights of the show. It was the first time I saw one in the metal and was immediately smitten. What a thing of beauty, so small and perfectly proportioned, the deep blue colour an unusual paint from the standard white.
And then there's the famous tubular chassis that gives the car its name. How brave/crazy were racing drivers those days, just look at it. not a good place to be in a crash. Cute looking death trap!
One of my all time favorite cars. ever.
PS: I'm guessing this is the Tipo 61, correct me if I'm wrong Maserati geeks! :-)
