In 2010 the Mazda6 entered a new phase of Mazda's Zoom-Zoom evolution program. The vehicle from the CD-segment received a facelift including a sportier front fascia, improved safety and environmental performance.
For the 2010 facelift, its exterior design received newly-designed headlamps and an upper grille with a new winged Mazda logo that is black on all grades and body-coloured on the Sports Grade. The lines running up from the grille between the fenders and the bonnet are also a new feature of the Mazda6.
The changes continue in the back where the rear combination lamps show chrome-plated winged decorations, which make the lamps look wider and seem to lower even further into the side panels. 17- and 18-inch aluminium wheel designs are also part of the facelifted Mazda6.
Mazda6 customers are able to choose from a range of three petrol and three diesel powertrains. In the petrol range the MZR 2.0 DISI petrol had its world debut. This more fuel-efficient, livelier and faster engine replaced the mid-sized petrol engine of the original model. Featuring high-revving direct-injection the powertrain delivers an output of 155 PS at 6,200 rpm and 193 of torque at 4,500 rpm. The engine can be combined with a six-speed manual transmission or a new five-speed Activematic automatic gearbox with manual shift mode. The petrol range is completed with the MZR 2.5 and the MZR 1.8 engines.
The diesel range includes three derivatives of Mazda’s MZR-CD 2.2 turbo-diesel engine. They are all Euro V compliant and built with reduced thermal capacity exhaust manifolds and joint pipes, allowing for quicker cold-start heat up of the catalyst and lower overall CO 2 emissions.
The Mazda6 is available in three different body types: hatchback, sedan and estate.
