A-Class was launched in 1997 and became Mercedes-Benz entry level model. The mini multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) has 3 or 5 doors. A second generation was introduced in 2004. 50 thousand units were expected to be sold that year and according to Mercedes that number was met even before the vehicles reached the dealers.
