AMG. The little hatch produces 355hp and 450Nm (332lb-ft) from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It is the most powerful four-cylinder engine currently in a production car. Even with all of the power, it has average fuel economy of 6.9l/100km (34mpg US) thanks partially to standard start/stop. The A45 AMG comes standard with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive. Orders will open for the A45 AMG on April 8, and they will go on sale in June in Germany

Mercedes says that it will aim the A45 AMG at buyers between 30 and their mid-40s, the youngest of any AMG car.

The A45 AMG accelerates to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h. It has average CO2 emissions of 161g/km of CO2.

The engine features a host of cutting edge technology to produce so much power from such a small displacement. It includes more modern elements like direct injection with more high-tech tricks like a twin-scroll turbocharger. Each of the engines is hand built at the new AMG assembly line in Kölleda.

The all-wheel drive system keeps the power going to the front wheels in most situations but can be split 50:50 if the front wheels begin to slip. The exhaust is controlled via a flap that deploys automatically to allow for quiet cruising and a more aggressive sound during hard driving.

To boost the style of the A45 AMG over the standard A-Class, the cars get a twin blade radiator grill and black trim around the side air intakes. It also gets an AMG rear apron with side air outlets and diffuser. It also has two square, chrome tailpipes. The cars come standard with AMG 18in wheels, 350mm (13.78in) front and 330mm (12.99in) rear brakes.

Inside, the cars get sport seats made from man-made leather and microfiber, a multifunction steering wheel, fake carbon fiber dashboard trim, AMG instrument cluster and AMG door sill panels.

Options include an aerodynamics package that adds a larger front splitter and rear wing, carbon fiber mirror housing, exterior carbon fiber package, 19in wheels, a black trim package, performance exhaust, performance suspension and performance seats.

A-Class

A-Class was launched in 1997 and became Mercedes-Benz entry level model. The mini multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) has 3 or 5 doors. A second generation was introduced in 2004. 50 thousand units were expected to be sold that year and according to Mercedes that number was met even before the vehicles reached the dealers. However, the A-Class wasn’t very well received by some groups that didn’t like to see Mercedes producing cars for less prestigious segments.   more
