The GLA45 AMG was unveiled in early 2014 and it gets the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 355hp (360ps) and 332lb-ft (350Nm) also found in the A45 AMG and CLA45 AMG. The potent powerplant gets the GLA45 AMG to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds and to a electronically limited top speed of 250km/h. It meets the EU6 emissions standard, and it consumes 7.5l/100km and emits 175g/km of CO2.
Like the A45 and CLA45, all-wheel drive is standard, and the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT dual-clutch seven-speed transmission is the only gearbox available. It has M, S and C modes. C is meant to maximize efficiency; S is for sporty driving, and M is fully manual.
To show off its additional power, the GLA45 AMG gets a full AMG body kit with a new front splitter, twin blade grill, standard bi-xenon headlights, aluminum roof rails, a rear diffuser and chrome exhaust pipes.
Inside, the GLA45 AMG gets standard seats made from man-made leather and microfiber, but full leather is optional. The multifunction steering wheel is covered in Nappa leather. The instruments are updated with the Racetimer that provides driving performance information.
The requisite upgrades have also been made to the suspension and braking systems. Torque vectoring by braking the inside wheel during hard cornering is standard. A stiffer front suspension, and thicker anti-roll bars in the rear also keeps the GLA45 AMG planted. Braking is provided by vented, cross-drilled brake discs all-round. Variable ratio power steering is also standard.
