Mercedes-Benz launched the second generation of the R-Class at the 2010 New York Motor Show. The vehicle underwent significant changes, including a completely redesigned front section, inspired by the Mercedes-Benz saloon and SUV models.
The 2010 R-Class generation is available in 9 standard versions, five of them long wheelbased. Adding to the petrol variants adopted from the preceding model, the range was joined by diesel engines.
The 2010 R 350 CDI 4MATIC is a combination of the low fuel consumption of a V6 engine with the high performance of a V8 variant, consuming 8.5 l/100 km, less 0.8 than its predecessor. This V6 diesel engine boasts 195 kW (265 hp) and a maximum torque of 620 Newton metres. It is the sportiest of all the R-Class with diesel engine, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of 235 km/h.
Developing the R-Class looks, designers focused on a completely revised front section. They emphasize the width of the car using the horizontally structured bonnet. The vehicle's wings, radiator grille and surround, headlamps and bumpers with chrome under guard have also received a new appearance.
