Mercedes-Benz unveiled the S63 AMG Coupé at the 2014 New York Motor Show.
In order to compete with Bentley's Continental GT and Aston Martin's Rapide, the S63 AMG Coupe replaces the CL63 AMG as the top of the range version of the German brand.
The AMG four-seats coupé is equipped with the AMG 5.5 liter V8 twin-turbo engine with 585hp and 900Nm. Compared to the CL63 AMG, the output of the top version of Mercedes' range was increased by 41cv. Torque also increased by 100Nm. The engine was combined with the seven-speed automatic transmission AMG Speedshift and the S63 AMG power is available in RWD and also in 4Matic, as an optional.
The rear wheel drive car gets the air suspension AirMatic as standard with tilt curves function, while the four-wheel drive version gets a more conventional and lighter suspension.
According to Mercedes, the rear wheel drive version of the S63 AMG Coupé can reach 100km/h in 4.3s, while having a 10.1l/100km consumption. The S63 AMG Coupé 4Matic accelerates to 100km/h in 3.9s and has an average consumption of 10.3l/100km. Both versions have a limited top speed of 250km/h.
In addition to the suspension, the rear-drive version of the S63 AMG Coupé is equipped with Mercedes' Magic Body Control system, which includes a series of functions, including the scanning of the road surface and active body control system.
