History, development and general characteristics

In October 1965, MG began producing the coupe version of its ‘B’ model – the MG B GT. The ‘GT’ was produced alongside the roadster until the end of MG B’s production in 1980.
During the 15 years of its lifetime, over 125 thousand copies of the MG B GT were produced.

Engine and Transmission

Deriving from its ‘parent’ MG B roadster, the B GT has the same 1.8-liter B-Series engine, assisted by rear-wheel drive and a 4-speed manual gearbox. With 95 hp, the car go up to 105 mi/h (169 km/h) and do 0–60 mi/h (97 km/h) in 13.6 seconds.
Between 1973 and 1976, there was a limited production ‘MG B GT V8’ edition that was given a Rover V8 engine.

Body and Design

The B GT is the fixed-roof version of the convertible-bodied MG B model, also with a 2+2 body.
Although this model was marketed as a coupe, the MG B GT was given a 2-door hatchback type of body, which was styled by the Pininfarina design studios.
