MINI to debuts a range of new sporty diesel models that will be labeled SD at the Geneva Motor Show 2011. Available in Cooper, Cooper Convertible, Clubman and Countryman, these variants are powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that is able to produce a maximum power of 143 hp and 305 Nm of torque. The engine has the same basic architecture as the 1.6-liter units that can be found under the bonnet of the MINI One D and the MINI Cooper D.

The Convertible variant of the Cooper SD reaches the 100km/h mark in 8.7 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h. With 118g/km of CO2 emissions the Cooper SD Convertible has an average fuel consumption of 4.5 litres per 100 km.

The MINI Cooper SD features some characteristic design cues. Its twin tailpipes are positioned in the centre of the rear apron. The MINI Cooper SD, MINI Cooper SD Clubman and MINI Cooper SD Countryman are also fitted with a roof spoiler.
