The ‘Cooper’ name was given to the classic Mini’s sports version, which was supplied by John Cooper and the Cooper car company. The name was resurrected mainly to give the car a sporty feeling right from the start. This model brought an immense success for the MINI brand, achieving great levels of sales worldwide. Around a hundred thousand copies of the MINI Cooper leave the company’s Cowley factory each year.
